Yoshi's SF (Saturday)
Words can not describe the intensity at a Brian Culbertson show. He is so AMAZING!!! The band is so AMAZING!!!! Last night at Yoshi's SF, B and his 5 man crew reminded he audience why live music is here to stay. Even with the technical difficulties, once again Brian rose to the occassion to put on the best show ever. Thanks Brian for continuing to make me smile, dance and proud to love the artist that you have become. Someone soulful, someone genuine, someone dedicated to his music, fans and family. And always, thanks for taking the time out to appreciate your fans with pics, autographs, and conversation. Lets hope Yoshi's will again invite Brian to perform again.....and again....and again......

The Atlanta Show on 9/19/08
What an awesome show. I got my BC fix. I won't spoil anything for those of you that have not seen the latest show, however, I will say it's a great mix of the new FUNK experience, some of my personal favorites as well as crowd pleasers. The show opened on time with Rahsaan Patterson followed by Lalah Hathaway. So this was mostly an R&B crowd that received a boost with Brian's electric performance. He certainly gained new fans that will no doubt come back just to see him. Thanks Brian for another enjoyable evening. Thanks Lisa for all that you do for the fans. Phyllis

Hi, Brian, from your three fans in the elevator!
My two friends and I (the 50-something ladies) just saw you at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut last night. I've been a fan for years and have attended many of your New York shows. I brought my two friends with me last night, and now you have two new fans. They loved you and the show!
Thank you for being so gracious at the autograph session and when we were lucky enough to be ALONE with you in the elevator this morning. You are an awesome performer and a real gentleman--a real class act!

And for your many interviews with various smooth jazz personalities. Thanks to our fan club pres Lisa Taylor for the GREAT pics, meet n greets, answering all my emails and just keeping up with the busiest guy around. Brian performed in Las Vegas in the Chrome Showroom at the Sante Fe Hotel & Casino last night (Friday, Sept. 5) and what a great performance it was! I absolutely love Brian. He is my FAVORITE smooth jazz artist. I met a couple that flew in from Texas to see him. Now those are fans!
I met another lady who saw Brian in the late 80's at his very first concert. She said the only time he looked up from the keyboard was to intro the song he was playing. He has come a long way.
Brian confirmed that he is preparing for the Soulful Christmas tour and will be back in Las Vegas in the Railhead at Boulder Station. That will be the 3rd time I have seen him this year. . .what? Look for him in a city near you.
If you or someone you know have never seen Brian in concert, I can promise you 3 things: 1) You will definitely get your money's worth; 2) You will never want to miss another concert; and 3) You will be a fan afterwards.
As the host of an internet radio show called Talking Smooth Jazz, I had the opportunity to interview Brian. A dream come true for me. To listen, copy/paste the link below into your browser. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Talking-Smooth-Jazz/2008/08/28/Special-Talking-Smooth-Jazz-Show
It's official . . . I have a crush on Brian!!!

I attended your Aug 15 show at the Chicago Theatre with my two sons (15 / 17) and we were blown away by the sound and band. Your band was tight and the added treat of a horn section is a rarity nowadays. I was hoping that you would play City Lights but maybe next time your in Chicago. I am hoping that you recorded that show so we can enjoy a live DVD or CD in the near future. You made the comment about making music the old school way with live musicians and not samples and tracks. The music I heard at the concert was fresh and not WNU_ ized techno tracks with sax harmonies. Thanks for showing the boys what REAL musicians can do.

it saddens me to say that i've never been to any of the concerts. all i can do is watch them on youtube and pretend i was there lol. since traveling really isn't an option for my parents right now, i'll have to wait until a concert comes a little closer to where i am. that'll be fun. until that is able to happen, i shall stick with the youtube videos

Hi BC!
WOW!!! What an awesome performance last night at the Greek Theatre. Your musical talents and energy are unlike any that I have witnessed in a long time. I have heard your name on the 94.7 wave music station but was not aware of the musical genius behind the name. I would like to wish you and your band continued success. (They were incredible!) Hope to see you again in the Los Angeles area.
Sincerely,
Mona(I asked you if you grew up in church) Love that gospel sound!!

Hi Brian, just wanted to say THANKS for an amazing show at the Berkeley Jazz Festival. You and the band were on FIRE!!!!! I didn't like the fact you only had an hour to share with all your fans your musical talent, but did appreciate you taking time out after your performance for pics, autographs and quick conversations. Maybe next year you can squeeze in more time. See you soon....

Hello Brian,
Just a suggestion, on your next Soulful Christmas concert, you don't have to invite special guests to perform with you. You and your band are more than enough to entertain your fans. I want to see more of your performance. You're great!

Howdy Brian: My name is deborah, nickname dab dab the duck, my cousins gave me that name because my butt switches like a duck's tail when I walk. I'm still waiting for you to make your appearance in Houston. We may have hot weather here but we also have plenty of air conditioning. I love, really love the song "In Her Eyes". Reminds me of an old-new love I've found again. You are a very talented young man. I say young man because I have a daughter your age. Keep up with the good work. And whatever you do with your music never leave out the "Old School Funk"! I'm a country girl born in the big city of Houston, Texas. Get here as soon as you can!! I'll meet you on the further, brotha!! Holla!!!

EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT!
I drove 7 hours from Las Vegas to Temecula, CA to see Brian at the Pechanga Casino and Brian, you have out done yourself on this tour! In my 6 years of attending your concerts in Las Vegas, the Funk Experience concert, by far, is the absolute best concert you have produced. It was sooooooo good. From the horn section to the saxophone player, Marqual (spelling?), by the way you need to produce a CD for Marqual, it was absolutely wonderful!!!! Brian you perfomed like you never have before. You are such a deliberate player on the keyboards and once you get started, you become one with it. All I could do was just sit in my chair in awe of your performance. I can't wait to see you again here in Las Vegas in September.
Congratulations on the CD being #1 for two weeks. You deserve it!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time after your concerts to get to know us, your fans. We love it!

My man BC, I bought "Bringing BackThe Funk" while in Bama last week and spent a long time on the road with it, you know what, you did bring back the funk. My fav is "The Groove" and "Funkin Like My Father" not discounting the others. You have always been my favorite key-boardest, the problem is I live in Buffalo NY and I'm sure I'll never get to see you here. I think I did suggest to you awhile back in an e-mail that you do some funk, a remake of stuff from James Brown, I knew you had it in ya. BC, keep up the good work.

It's Glenda from Houston. It was great seeing you at the Seabreeze Jazz Festival in Florida. As you know we no longer have the wave here, so I just listen to all your CD's. To bad Bringing Back the Funk wasn't out yet, so you could have autographed it for me. But I did buy it as soon as it came out. Hope to see you in Houston soon.

Well!! Mr. Culbertson I see you don't cotton to the South. You "Yankees" think that y'all corner the market on funky jazz sounds. Well, just let me tell you we (I) relish in the idea of gettin on down with the funk and turning it out and loose. I would like to graciously invite you to Houston, Texas. Please, if you would, sir, please schedule one of your baddddd funk concerts in our fine city. I would love to see y'all get with the buggee, set the roof on fire, and back that thing up. Don't take this conversation wrong, son, but I am in my on way begging you to please stop and slide on into our fine city, Houston, Texas, and I will be on the front row to let you know. I think you are a very decent, intelligent young man. And the reason I called you son is because I have a daughter your age. And just because I'm from old-school doesn't mean I can't get jiggy with it. Like I tell my children, the only reason you know how to dance and buggee is because when you were only a gleam in God's eye, I was tearing up the dance floor. YeeeHah!! Thoughtly yours, Deborah E.
