SOMETHIN' BOUT LOVE
Released on September 21, 1999 on Atlantic Records, this was Brian's first CD recorded after his move to Los Angeles from Chicago. Featuring many top LA session musicians and guest artists such as Wayman Tisdale, Dave Koz and Paul Jackson, Jr., this is also the first album that Brian featured guest vocalists (Howard Hewitt and Lori Perry), starting a trend that has continued until today. Included are the #1 smooth jazz hits "Do You Really Love Me?" and "Back In The Day." Somethin' Bout Love also features a remake of "The Secret Garden" which has been a fan favorite that Brian frequently performs live.
During the making of this record, Brian's manager, Howard Lowell, passed away from Leukemia. Howard was also Lori Perry's manager so the two of them wrote the song "I'm Gonna Miss You" in dedication to Howard which was recorded live and is one of the most poignant and emotional songs ever included on any of Brian's albums. Proceeds from the sale of that song are still being donated to the Leukemia Society of America in Howard's name.
